Shayde Primrose was born and raised in Southern Alberta, growing up on his family's farm just outside of Waterton Lakes National Park. He has been fortunate enough to have both the mountains and the prairies as his training grounds.

Shayde has had a love for horses since he could walk. He bought his first horse at the age of 12, and started training with the guidance of his Dad. Shayde quickly fell in love with the challenge and personal growth that comes with each individual horse.

Throughout high school, Shayde spent more time on a horse than in the classroom. He worked with local trainer Joel Lybbert of BarJL Horse Training, and trained both his own and client horses. Often spending hours every day before, during, and after school at the arena.

At just 16 years old, Shayde entered the Missouri Mule Makeover, a five-month mule training competition. He traveled to Missouri for the final competition, competing against other skilled youth horse trainers in 4 different classes.  He ultimately won 1st place, earning the title of 2023 Youth Grand Champion. This experience taught Shayde invaluable lessons in perseverance and problem-solving, both in and out of the arena.

Recently, Shayde spent five months at the Freeman Ranch in Colorado, working with and learning from Tristan Baroni of Notorious Horsemanship, further enhancing his skills in horse training. 

In his free time, Shayde can usually be found on a horse, whether he's on a pack trip in the mountains, shed hunting, or participating in ropings and brandings. He also enjoys leather working and knife making.

With his training experience and passion for continual learning, Shayde is a dedicated horse trainer who believes every horse can be reached. His commitment to his craft and his unmatched work ethic set him apart from others his age. Don't underestimate Shayde due to his age, his star is rising quickly.  He is a horse trainer you'll want to keep an eye on!
